Frequently Asked Questions for transient patients

Please reach us at cuisondialysiscenter@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A transient patient in dialysis is someone who requires treatment at a center different from their usual one. This need may arise during travel, temporary relocation, or emergencies. These patients should prearrange their sessions at the alternate center to ensure continuity of care.

Yes, we welcome transient patients at our facility.

To ensure a smooth transition and continuation of your dialysis treatment at our facility, transient patients are required to provide the following detailed documentation:

  1. Hemodialysis Order: This is a formal document issued by your current attending physician or our in-house nephrologist, specifying your dialysis prescription including the frequency, duration, and any specific instructions regarding your treatment.
  2. Hepatitis Screening Results: You need to provide results of Hepatitis B and C screenings (specifically HbsAg, Anti-HBs, Anti-HCV, Anti-HBc total tests) conducted within the last three months. Note that re-testing may be requested based on the discretion of our attending physician, especially considering the increased risk of hepatitis in dialysis patients.
  3. Latest Laboratory Results: We require your most recent blood test results, ideally not older than 9 days, including Complete Blood Count (CBC), blood chemistries, and electrolyte levels. These are critical for assessing your current health status and for the proper management of your dialysis treatment.
  4. Clinical Abstract or Medical Record: If you are transferring from another hemodialysis center, we need a detailed medical record or clinical abstract from that center. This should include your medical history, previous and ongoing treatment details, and any relevant clinical notes.
  5. Recent Hemodialysis Treatment Sheets: Please provide detailed records from your last three dialysis sessions. These sheets should include information about the dialysis treatment you received, including machine settings, any complications or observations made during treatment, and your response to the treatment.
  6. Senior Citizen/PWD ID Copies: If you are a senior citizen or a person with a disability (PWD), please provide photocopies of your valid IDs issued by the Philippine government.
  7. PhilHealth Member Data Record: For patients who are members of PhilHealth, we require your current Member Data Record for billing and verification purposes.
  8. PDD Confirmation Letter: A confirmation letter from your current dialysis facility is needed upon registration at our center. This letter should confirm your patient status and dialysis schedule.
  9. Recent Antigen Test Result: We require an antigen test result that is valid for 72 hours prior to your first session with us, ensuring the safety and health of all our patients and staff.

Each of these documents plays a crucial role in providing you with safe and effective dialysis treatment and ensuring continuity of care as you transition to our facility for your temporary dialysis needs.

Unfortunately not. Patients should not bring their own epoetin or dialyzer to the clinic for the following reasons:

  1. Quality control and Safety: The clinic may not be able to verify the authenticity, purity, or potency of the patient-supplied medication or equipment. In addition, using unauthorized medical devices or medications can pose a risk to the patient's health and safety.
  2. Regulatory compliance: Our clinic must adhere to regulatory guidelines and standards for medical devices and medications, which may not be met by patient-supplied items.
  3. Liability: The clinic may be held liable for any adverse events or complications arising from the use of patient-supplied medications or equipment.
  4. Standard of care: Clinics are required to maintain a consistent standard of care, which may be compromised by using patient-supplied items.
  5. Infection control: Patient-supplied equipment may not meet the clinic's infection control standards, posing a risk to other patients and staff.
  6. Compatibility: Patient-supplied equipment may not be compatible with the clinic's equipment or systems.
  7. Record-keeping: The clinic may not be able to accurately record and track patient-supplied medications or equipment, which can lead to errors or oversights.

These reasons highlight the importance of using clinic-provided medications and equipment to ensure patient safety and maintain the highest standard of care.
